VodafoneThree delivers speed increase for millions of customers

More than 7 million Three UK customers across the UK have seen their 4G speeds boosted by an average of 20% in the first major benefit delivered by VodafoneThree.

24 July 2025: More than 7 million Three UK customers across the UK have seen their 4G speeds boosted by an average of 20% in one of the first major benefits delivered by VodafoneThree.

The enhanced performance has been made possible by activating an extra 5MHz of 1800MHz spectrum on almost 15,000 sites of the Three UK network. As a result, some customers are seeing 4G speeds increase by up to 40%.

Speed improvements will differ from location to location, depending on how each site is set up. The biggest boosts will be seen in areas that had less capacity before, exactly where faster speeds are needed most. For example, Aylesbury, in Buckinghamshire, has recently received a 40% uplift in 4G speed courtesy of the additional radio spectrum. As a result, customers can now enjoy faster, more reliable mobile connectivity, with increased capacity helping to prevent network congestion issues.

VodafoneThree engineers worked around the clock since the merger’s completion to activate the additional spectrum. Three UK sites in Kent and Sussex were the first to experience the speed boost, with the rollout quickly expanding nationwide and concluding with final upgrades in Scotland.

This is only the beginning of VodafoneThree’s commitment to deliver a new era of connectivity. Just weeks after announcing its unprecedented £11 billion investment plan, customers across the UK are already experiencing the benefits.
