How Discovery is connecting communities through the creative arts

Press Office,

At the heart of Maidenhead’s community, Norden Farm Centre for the Arts plays a vital role in bringing people together through the power of art – particularly for those who might otherwise feel excluded.

Through its wide-ranging education and outreach programme, the arts centre works with diverse groups including young carers, refugees, families on low incomes and young people with SEND or mental health challenges.

Until recently, however, access to digital tools remained a challenge. Workshops often relied on freelance practitioners bringing their own equipment, limiting what could be delivered and who could take part.

Thankfully, through VodafoneThree Discovery and its device donation programme, Norden Farm has now received a range of iPads, helping to remove these barriers and open up new creative opportunities.

Removing digital barriers to creativity

The donation forms part of VodafoneThree’s wider commitment to improving digital access and helping communities thrive through connectivity – often delivered through Discovery, its team of on-the-ground digital skills trainers.

The donated devices will be used across a range of programmes – from stop-motion animation workshops for teenagers to digital storytelling projects with refugee groups – as well as supporting young people in leadership programmes.

The portability of the iPads also allows the team to extend their reach beyond the centre, bringing creative sessions directly into community settings and partner spaces.

“We are so grateful to VodafoneThree Discovery for their generous donation of iPads for our community and education programme. This equipment will make a huge difference to the work we deliver for children and families!”

Creating lasting impact

With dedicated devices, Norden Farm can now embed digital creativity into its work more consistently, giving participants the chance to learn new skills, document their experiences and express themselves in new ways.

This is particularly important for those facing digital exclusion, where access to technology can be limited.

By providing hands-on opportunities, the programme aims to build confidence, reduce feelings of isolation, and help participants feel more connected to their communities.

Over time, the centre expects to see increased engagement across its programmes, broader participation from underserved groups, and more innovative, inclusive creative outputs.

“Access to digital tools shouldn’t be a barrier to creativity or opportunity. By repurposing devices and placing them into the hands of organisations like Norden Farm, we can help unlock new skills, boost confidence and support stronger, more connected communities. It’s about making technology work where it matters most.”
