Ally Stevens,

Enhanced mobile capacity and coverage will help keep visitors, performers and organisers connected throughout Wales’ largest cultural festival.

VodafoneThree is deploying dedicated 4G and 5G coverage across the iconic National Eisteddfod, starting on Saturday 1 August.

Up to 175,000 people are expected to attend the week-long festival, being held in Llantwd (Llandudoch), Pembrokeshire. VodafoneThree will be boosting network capacity at the event via a temporary mobile mast – known as a Cell on Wheels (COW)

This will ensure both Vodafone and Three customers visiting and working across the festival site will enjoy the fastest data speeds, as well as the strongest voice calls, even when the event is at its busiest.

Beyond keeping festivalgoers connected, enhanced network capacity helps support the thousands of people and organisations that bring the National Eisteddfod to life.

From exhibitors and local businesses processing payments to broadcasters sharing content and organisers coordinating activity across the site, reliable connectivity is essential to the smooth running of the event.

In all, VodafoneThree’s herd of COWs are scheduled to be deployed more than 130 times this year at some of the UK’s busiest festivals, agricultural shows and sporting events.

Earlier this summer, a COW attended the Royal Welsh Show to support the local network and, as a result, it saw enough data used to share more than 13 million images of the event on your favourite social platform.

As part of an £11 billion investment to build the UK’s best network, VodafoneThree is strengthening connectivity for communities, businesses and public services across Wales.

These investments not only support major cultural celebrations such as the National Eisteddfod but also help Welsh organisations access the connectivity they need to grow, innovate and create new opportunities in their local communities.
